Be with a walī. He has divine light and is running to Allāh’s ﷻ Divine Presence. With one’s sincerity, every station he reaches can be reached. Find and keep such a connection. People, wholly, are without wings or broken wings. Only few can fly. Therefore Muslims, particularly, must be good mannered.
Shadow Play
Jan01 1986 English 32min
Like in a shadow play, shayṭān is the puppeteer and all people, East and West, follow his lead without knowing. People run for the hungry of Abyssinia when they should waste less food. Religious people must be patient and tolerant. If they can save one person from shayṭān that is enough. The only shelter is with the Awliyā’.
The Pillars of Faith Unchanged
Jan01 1986 English 11min
The requirements of belief are unchanged since the first Prophet, Ādam (as). The form of worship may change but not the content. Your nature is written on your forehead to be read by those who can see. The ego is a child that wants everything for itself and must be trained.
To Swallow a Mountain
Nov30 1985 English 30min
You must believe that with your Lord’s support you can do anything. With that hope and that intention all things become possible, like the prophet who was asked to swallow a mountain.
Umirtu an Uqātila n-Nās
Nov30 1985 English 21min
Mawlana speaks to the well known Ḥadīth "umirtu an uqātila n-nās ḥattá yaqūlū lā ilaha illā Llāh”. I am ordered to fight people until they accept the truth that Allah is God, not their egos. The ego within is the real enemy of man. It accepts no one but itself. It must be fought. How could a Prophet be sent with the truth and not fight its enemies.
Sayyidinā Ibrāhīm (as)
Nov30 1985 English 13min
After the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, the second most honored prophet is Sayyidunā Ibrāhīm (as). He had no fear of the fire of Nimrod because his constant glorifying of Allāh made him gold and gold does not burn. Those who truly follow his way are Muslims and under the flag of the Prophet ﷺ.
Man Is Like a Clay Jar
Nov30 1985 English 19min
A jar full of water must be broken in order to join the ocean. This is the metaphor Mawlānā uses to describe our state and our goal – to join the endless unity oceans, knowledge oceans, divine oceans. He gives us a taste from this hidden treasure.
Willpower
Sep30 1985 English 12min
Willpower is a grace from Allāh ﷻ to everyone. The only difference is whether you exercise it or not. To act beyond what you are comfortable with makes it grow and makes you rise above the level of animals.
Meditation
Nov30 1984 English 4min
All religions are the same. Meditation is a training used by many to help a person focus inside rather than outside.
Make Mi‘rāj to Your Lord ﷻ
Jun13 1984 English 39min
Five times a day we are invited to make mi‘rāj to our Lord ﷻ. To find the sweet taste of prayer and dhikr takes patience. In the last days more women than men will be praying. Mawlānā gives examples of two saintly women, Rābi‘ah al-‘Adawiyah and the Aunt of Grandsheikh ‘Abdu Llāh.
Certainty (Yaqīn)
Jun13 1984 English 28min
There is a belief about believing also: There must be certainty. Only those who have it can give it, otherwise it is like eating plastic fruit. Certainty belongs to the heart, action to the organs. Keeping the Lord’s ﷻ relationship in the heart improves certainty. Wrong actions weaken it. When certainty is strong the heart commands the organs.
How to Control Anger
Jun13 1984 English 12min
Anger is the worst characteristic of the ego. When anger flares, faith burns. It destroys belief. Patience and humility are its cure. To control it is the hardest thing but, little by little, if you follow the instructions of our Grandshaykh, it won’t get worse and it will get better.
Hārūn ar-Rashīd
Jun13 1984 English 17min
A thirsty Sulṭān would give half his kingdom just for a cup of water in a desert and the other half, for the comfort of relieving himself. So taught his Shaykh to Hārūn ar-Rashīd, the great khalīfah. Awliyā’ ask only for their Lord. Who seeks must seek through them. Who finds, finds everything.
Advice: Anger, Divorce
Jun13 1984 English 8min
Mawlānā’s advice on the subject of anger is that it destroys faith. Who when tested, stands firm against it, will be dressed and summoned to the Assembly of the Awliyā’. Allāh ﷻ then becomes their ally and defender. On the subject of marriage Mawlānā advises that there should be agreement on both sides.
The Value of a Person
Jun12 1984 English 42min
The value of a person is the degree of his faith. What is its sign? The light of faith has entered his heart. Nothing can prevent this light when it comes from Allāh ﷻ. Reaching it is difficult, distant and dangerous. The inheritors of the prophets can clarify and complete mankind’s values according to what they received on the Day of Promises. No one can reach his heavenly position without following those who belong to the heavens.
Harm No One
Jun12 1984 English 19min
Mawlānā warns against the two things that bring Divine Anger. One is denying the existence of the Creator and the other is intending or doing harm, by hand or word, to others.
Who Is Son of Adam?
Jun11 1984 English 32min
Man fails to understand his value. He focuses on form. Allāh ﷻ has honoured the son of Adam instead, he commits sin after sin by disrespecting his fellow man. His enmity must go. Honouring his fellow man raises him in Divine Presence. He must understand the meaning of “Son of Adam”.
Make a Family Circle
Jun10 1984 English 14min
Mawlānā gives important advice to those Muslims struggling to raise their children in the West. Do as the prophet Hūd (as) did to protect the believers from the storms that are coming.
